Frequently Asked Questions

  • CANCELLATION:

Because this is a monthly cohort format, it is important that you attend all sessions if possible. Your attendance contributes to the overall group cohesion! Due to the cohort format, we do not let any new members sign up for the group until a new registration period begins. This means that if you cancel, your spot cannot be filled. Due to this, we do not offer late cancellations for this group. Your payment for the session will still be due at the time of session. If cancellation is due to illness, emergency, or extraordinary circumstances, your therapist will discuss any potential opportunities for attending a drop-in group or individual session.

    ATTENDANCE:

It is also important that you show up on time and stay for the entire duration of the group unless previously arranged. If you are going to be late, please let the therapist know as soon as possible. We will be starting the group promptly and will wait no more than 10 minutes for all group members to arrive unless there are prior arrangements. If you are going to be more than 20 minutes late without previous arrangements, we will consider this a cancellation (Please contact your therapist for make-up opportunities). It is asked that you arrive to the session location early to allow time for parking and locating the group.

Any missed payments or more than one cancellation/no show may lead to discharge from the group (you will still be responsible for the remainder of your group payments).

  • It is up to you to be honest about your physical level and to communicate your needs during group. Our distance will depend on the needs of the group, so it is important that everyone is speaking up about what is feeling good for them. We will be doing lots of walking across various terrains. Please consult with your physician if this is something you would like to consider and communicate with your therapist if there are any health issues that need to be considered.

  • Our sessions will begin in a central meeting location. Once everyone arrives, we will do a check in to see where everybody is at-- mentally, physically, emotionally. After our check in, we will open up the discussion question and start our activity. The session will include walking to a destination, small group and large group activity, creating art individually and as a group, mindfulness practices, and learning about the environment you'll be in. There will be time to sit and reflect, eat some snacks, and speak with peers.

  • Bringing yourself and an open mind is important. Also make sure that you are prepared for the weather! Wear comfy clothes, grab your hiking boots, and make sure you are ready for the cold or rain (lets hope for some good days though!). Additionally, you will be encouraged to bring a few art supplies, and a supply list will be given to you ahead of time. YOU WILL RECEIVE A PACKING LIST PRIOR TO THE START OF GROUP.

  • An open group (aka drop-in group) means that you can join the group at anytime. Cohort/closed group means that all the group members sign up at the same time and end at the same time (cohort type model). There are multiple drop-in groups and one time events being added to the event calendar!
